Old boys still running the world
Re your May 31 Business section article, Vast array of international VIPs talk things over at secretive Bilderberg '96 in King City. The idea that some elitist group of mostly white anglo saxon males is gathering to decide the direction of the Western world, and for that matter, the entire world, is very disturbing.
Yes, there are a few token queens and princesses thrown in to keep the boys company, but this is just a continuation of the old boys' club that has run the world for centuries.
Maybe the conference could really come up with some innovative and progressive ideas if some "ordinary people" were invited. But I'm sure all that Conrad Black hopes to accomplish at this elitist frat party, known as the Bilderberg conference, is to maintain the status-quo - a world order where a few large banks and companies dictate how we live and what we do; a world order where the developing world continues to be exploited to help pad the wallets of these elites.
I guess power and influence doesn't always translate into superior intellect.
